So they have to build everything from scratch, make all the sprites and animations again. Differently said, they couldnt take stuff from the original because that would be stealing. If they took the code or assets, textures or music from the initial game, they could get problems with different companies owning the rights to the game and its distribution. Making this game needs them to recreate everything from scratch so people can play a game like this with newer technology while they dont have to own the old game and the creators dont need to own the license to create this game. Im not entirely sure, so its just what i think could be the reason. Still i think i can kind of answer that to you. well agreed, a remake of this one would be even better. I think they will go for this OpenCeasar the same way. Its mostly an update platform to deliver new technique to the old games, make them run on newer OS and enhance gameplay and balance. So they not just chose to make RA but also give you the option to start other games remaked by them.Īlso you can import mods of the C&C Series to the openra surface and start it there.
OpenRA for example is an open source mod surface, you start the app and you choose whether you want to go for Red Alter, Dune2000 or Tiberium Conflict. The first thing that I thought when I saw that this was being remade was why would they remake Caesar 3 and not the much better successor, Pharaoh, which did nothing but improve on the gameplay of Caesar 3. It's also by Impressions Software and has very similar gameplay to Caesar 3, but improved in pretty much every way.
